The material is generated because lumber is being produced—not because a new energy project demands timber. UEG creates an additional, productive outlet for an existing manufacturing byproduct.
A clearly defined feedstock

UEG’s principal feedstock is clean primary sawmill residual sawdust generated during commercial lumber manufacturing in Oregon and Washington. It is not a dedicated energy crop, is not sourced from land-use conversion, and no timber is harvested specifically to produce it.
